First you have to decide what a manageable number of keywords is for your site. If you only have a ten page site, you don’t need 200 keywords. You have to think of words that people would potentially use to search for what you’re offering, just like you do when you are getting ready for starting an AdWords campaign.
You have to put yourself in the customer’s and figure out how he or she might try to find you. Tools exist that can help with this, but listing important keywords is a stream of consciousness thing to make sure you are in the right headspace as your visitors.
You can also tweak your pages a little once you find out which keyword works. Different software or hosting services may need to be tweaked differently, but there are some general ways to influence how your site gets indexed:
Your page title is the words at the top of the browser window. Search engines look at these words for a description of the page. Search engines tend to look at the first three words, so make them the most important. Do the same for H1 tags; search engines prioritize them so use important keywords here. Stay with tz otal of H1 tag per page.
Use keywords in your URLs too! Hyphenate for readability. Keyword density is important, but don’t overdo it.
Have we said use your keywords enough? Put them in your meta tags, too! Include them in a 25 word description – Google pulls this snippet and posts it as the link back to your site from the SERPs. Use keywords in the anchor txt!! Don’t get bogged down.
Your content should be naturally keyword rich,. Keep in interesting. You know how people love interesting They will bookmark you and come back again and again!
Keep it up, and you will get more users visiting your site, and more conversions.
