All the search engines try to improve their indexing as well as search result’s page algorithm constantly to provide the best results to their users and make their results more relevant to the users search. Google is notorious for constantly changing its algorithm making it more and more difficult for webmasters to gain complete mastery over the search engine’s indexing and search listing patterns. Our current optimization efforts are based on the close observation and reviews by experts and SEO professionals on various strategies that they used with their websites and the resulting effects.
Here are few changes that have been noticed with Google’s algorithm on the search results pages which we can make use of in our own SEO efforts. One of the changes that have been noticed in the search results page is that when we use long tail keyword strings in the search query box, the results that we get displays longer snippet. It goes even up to four lines in some cases. Originally it was limited to two lines. It may not be possible to display all the keywords in two lines of snippets for long tail keywords. To show that a particular website is relevant for the search query that has been passed, it has to show relevant snippets either from the meta description that we supply or from the website content directly. So to make our websites more relevant to long tailed keyword phrases, we should see to that the content is providing the search engines with the relevant keyword density. If you are targeting on a particular keyword phrase that is long tailed, make sure to keep the words as close as possible to each other.
Another change that is seen in the search results pages in Google results is that the number of suggestions on the related searches has been increased. Google tends to display a longer list of suggested searches at the bottom of the page. This is to help people find what they want quickly because not all of us will use the right set of keywords to look for the information we need.
You can take advantage of this change by making sure to optimize your website for a wider range of keywords that are related to your services. It is important that your website has highly focused keywords as well as keywords that are related to your services and products. This will increase the chances of getting listed in the related search pages as well. This will in turn increase your online visibility.
Though these changes in Google search pages are not directly related to the indexing algorithm, we can certainly take advantage of these minor changes that we notice and get better online visibility. Our SEO efforts should be far penetrating to get the desired traffic and just not superficial. Every little change has to be noted and our optimization efforts should be accordingly modified.
