The first step in getting people to visit your website is to get indexed by the search engines so that your website can feature in the search results pages. Normally we consider that our website is indexed if the home page is indexed. Remember indexing does not guarantee good ranking. Indexing is the process of search engine spiders parsing your website to record the contents in its database. All the search engines have their own way of storing the information in their index. When a search is made on the web by the internet user, it does not reach your website to access the data for the search results pages but it reaches its own database. Now it will be clear why some websites get listed in the search results page and whilst others do not. It is simply because those websites or web pages are not found in the database of the search engines.

Therefore, if you want website visitors to access your pages, make sure that all your web pages are indexed. Never be content with home page indexing. Home page indexing alone is no sufficient because your homepage can get listed only for certain keywords. Link the pages that are not indexed by Google from the pages already linked. This will help Google find those hidden pages. While working on your website’s link building try to get deep links for those pages that have not been indexed. This will not only get the search engine spiders to crawl the pages that are missed out, it will also allow the link juice to spread more evenly.

Use good number of internal links connecting all the pages of your website using appropriate anchor text. This will help in getting all the pages indexed and at the same time, it will also enhance the effectiveness of your keywords.
