  • SEO and Automation

It is possible to get more done in your quest for success online if you automate tasks using a number of software tools that are available on the web. You can apply this in a broad sense to the SEO industry as well; but how much automation is possible in the SEO tasks and how effective your tools are will depend on a variety of factors. Without being properly used, any tool is going to be less effective than it has the potential to be.

Tools that allow you to automate certain tasks may end up causing you more trouble than they are worth some times – there is a potential downside to automating. Before you start using any software tools for your website’s promotion or SEO you should rundown the following tutorial to ensure you are choosing the right tool and automating the right processes. Some processes are great when automated, but other like directory submission, for instance, are better when performed manually.

This is one of the link building strategies which SEO software tools can accomplish, but is best done manually. Directories try to stem the practice of automated link building efforts through directory submission, because automation tends to spam the system. This is a case of a few ‘evildoers’ who refuse to curb the temptation to spam. Because of those few bad eggs, the rest of us are unable to benefit from the time saving measures we could otherwise take advantage of thanks to automation.

Don‘t despair though, there are many tools that will automate the process partially. They  generally have an interface that allows you to load the directories and allow prior to filling in the details so you can get through that process just once. The info is then saved and used for successive submissions reducing time and effort. Almost all directories try to verify human submission by using a ‘CAPTCHA’ code registration verification. You cannot automate that, so you will have to enter each site’s individual CAPTCHA code manually. That is nothing compared to the time it takes to manually input everything time after time. Partial automation is better than no automation.

Too many SEO software tools on the market don’t reflect truth in advertising, and should be well researched to see if they really work before you purchase them.  There are a number of tools that  promise to get you good rankings with the click of few buttons. The reality of this though is that  no software tool can effectively replace human optimization. The best that a software tool can do for you is to automate certain steps and save you time on repetitive tasks. Ultimately you have to decide how best to streamline your SEO process and where you can save time and energy when optimizing your website.

Don’t be fooled by tools that claim to use ‘artificial intelligence’ on SEO. There is no such thing as a comprehensive, hands off SEO software – no ‘algorithm’ can be 100% successful  because of the unpredictable behavior patterns of the human mind and the ever changing rules of the search engines. These are the biggest scams on the web because SEO is an ever changing process. It never ends. This means you need to consider the reality of the claims made by software manufacturers before spending your money on software tools that don’t provide good results. Using automated SEO tools is usually no more effective than blindly tossing darts and hoping for a bullseye time after time.
