  • Forgotten Pages Can Hurt Your Website!

You are all excited. You’ve set up your website and launched your campaigns. But have you forgotten a few basic things to help your customers while you work out the kinks?

An FAQ and a Contact Us page can make all the difference in a customer staying or bouncing away from your website. All it takes is a little time and effort, and you can provide backup in case there are parts of your site which end up being confusing or inaccessible to customers, or navigational issues or even just plain confusion.

An FAQ page can troubleshoot your site, especially if you make it simplified to certain questions, hyperlinked to cascading pages. Then you can track which questions are asked most frequently, often leading to better site design and a better idea of what your visitors come to your site looking for.

For example, if you notice a lot of customers click on ‘Do you ship overseas’ you can add that info to your home page so they know right up front. If you have information that is search frequently, you can add a link to teh appropriate page rom your landing page, to get your visitors where they need to go faster.

Also, if you still find customers bouncing, have a readily available contact us information page so they can reach you if they get too confused!  This can mean the difference between a highly satisfied customer and one that simply takes off to find a site that can answer their questions faster.

Your FAQ page should be logically laid out, and divided with subheadings for different types of queries so the visitors can quickly find the question they want to ask. Then a hyperlink ashould take them to a friendly page where their question is answered in easy to understand terms and in large print. At the bottom, a link should lead back to related questions, and the main FAQ page.

The contact us should have a mailing address, an email, a phone number, hours of operation, and even a fax if available. If you are available to man the chat line at certain times, stick an option on there for that, too.

Making sure your site is navigable and that you answer all questions can greatly increase the number of people who stay on your site and reduce your bounce rate.
