  • Cheap Permanent Links

One way links are the foundation of a high ranking site. Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines give precedence to sites with strong inbound links. Directories and websites may give you a link in exchange for you linking to them (reciprocal linking), but although this works you can get more SEO benefits from one way links from directories if you play your cards right.

Before submitting your site, familiarize yourself with the rules for directory link building. First, search the directory for your business name and URL to make sure your site is not already listed- you don’t want the directory webmaster to think you are spamming!  (You should keep a log with all directory URLs submitted, date of submission, and the title & description you used)

Follow the submission guidelines and terms of use for each directory because failure to follow submission guidelines may result in your site getting rejected. Each site is different, so pay attention! You also need to use different site titles and descriptions for each of the different directories. If you aren’t sure how to go about this, your SEO firm can obtain permanent links for you by doing submissions on your behalf-  just make sure there is no duplication.

Here are a baker’s dozen of good directory sites to submit to.

DMOZ – This one is still a good bet for a high quality one way link – just do your homework and follow their rules as per category submitted to. Then be patient – DMOZ can move very slowly due to each submission being looked at by a human editor. This open directory project is one of the oldest and most authoritative directories and is trusted by all the search engines.

SmartLinks.org – This directory has no automation. meaning you have to literally email the directory owner your site name (title), URL, and description plus a link to their category which you feel is most appropriate. Sites are added at the sole discretion of the editorial team.

oneMission –this free directory is simply to get a link from – just navigate to the appropriate category and click “Add a link” to submit your site.

IllumiRate – This is a site much like to dmoz.org, but you should read the submission policy since they have specific guidelines for submission. Their categories are similar to DMOZ.

Arakne Links – You can get a reciprocal link in 3 days, but if you submit by selecting a category then filling out the submission form and waiting for review, you may be able to get a one way link instead.

SearchSight – This is a very fast site – just fill out 6 form fields and acquire a link in 5 minutes or less.

Clickey – Clickey requires sign up with a valid email address from your domain, and then sends you a password, Then you simply use your domain name with that password to submit your URL and get a link from Clickey.

SoMuch.com – supposedly uses a manual review process, but some webmasters say their URL is automatically accepted and posted in mere seconds.

Search-O-Rama – You have to input in your website URL and a valid email address, then return through a link in an email sent to you to complete the submission process.

NetInsert – Add a Meta tag or other line of text into your store front (SFNT) page. the all you have to do is submit to the appropriate category, and you have a permanent link.

LdmStudio – You must use root domain and pick the right category to get a link to your site, so pay attention and follow directions.

MavicaNet – This is another simple one – find the most appropriate category then add your website URL to get the one way link.

Jet Links – Select the correct topic, submit your url and presto – another free one way link.
