Did you ever get so stressed about SEO that you considered chucking the whole idea? SEO can be frustrating – everyone knows that. Algorithms change and with that the approach you take has to change!
*
To top it all off you never really know what is going to work until someone has gone through the trial and error process since the SERPs don’t make their algorithms public – not enough to really help you understand what they want at least. Frustrating as it is, don’t give up! That is not a good plan, but most webmasters have felt this way at one time or another.
*
The one constant in SEO is change. When it comes to our websites, things are usually in a state of flux. The world of search is constantly altering its focus to deliver more specific results, so we have to adapt! If we don’t adapt, we don’t rank well and if we don’t rank we don’t convert.
*
You have to stay on top of what is and isn’t in favor at any given time. If the search engines make links more relevant, we need be
tter incoming PageRank giving links. If they decide that quantity and quality of pages is of importance, content becomes a priority. Sometimes it’s a little bit of everything and you have to go broad based and do your best. It’s never easy but it’s always worth it.
*
How do you go about all of this though? For starters, managing your time and your budget is critical if you hope to have a prayer of getting everything done. You can in all likelihood do some of your site work yourself, but in some cases help will be needed.
*
Knowing what to hire out is important. You may look at a consultation as a waste of time and money, but the reality is that spending a little upfront to get a realistic view of not only what needs to be done but what you can realistically do on your own can save you tons of time and money on the backend.
*
Remember, there is no shame in not knowing how to do something! No one knows absolutely every single thing about building, optimizing and maintaining a site. Things change too fast to always be on top of everything.
*
The only time to be ashamed of yourself is if you pass up the opportunity to learn. Just try to determine what you can change yourself, and what you may need help to change. That is the best you can do.
