Branching Out – Expanding Your Horizons

Once you have established your website and filled it with optimized content, and developed a strong linking strategy to encourage PageRank as well as traffic, you are ready to start branching out.

Think about ways you can promote yourself other than content and links. Develop a widget or gadget or tool that you can give away to garner more interest in your site.

Think about an eBook. This is one of the most efficient ways to get attention; often you can have two eBooks – one with a bit of teaser information and one that is more complex.

You give away the teaser, and sell the fancier one. Make sure that the teaser is valuable, though – you want the consumer to be pleased enough to come back and purchase your full length product.

If you don’t have a blog, now is the time to start one. You can do a lot of things with a blog! The ability to funnel traffic from your blog to your main site is phenomenal – and there are so many extra things you can do with a blog.

One thing is to run a simple survey. Another is to take a poll or a vote. A third is to run a contest! There are so many things you can do with a blog!!

You can also make a newsletter. Don’t commit to this unless you are willing to keep it going on a continual basis. You can use some of the tactics described to obtain email addresses and include a check box if they would like to receive the FREE newsletter delivered to them via email each month.

Once you have the newsletter going out, you can begin to advertise a few products per month. As always, if you don’t have the time or skills yourself, you can easily hire a professional to help you with the extra content.

Don’t spam with your newsletter – just send it to people on your subscription list, and start including a subscription box with an easy fill window on your home page and other strategic pages to increase your number of subscribers.

Once you have begun to reach a little farther a field, you will be amazed at how far your roots can reach. Keep growing branches and extending your reach, and you will increase your traffic, your links and the PageRank of your site!
