Twitter undoubtedly is one of those leading social media platforms that have managed to sustain its position at the top for a long time. Every aspect pertinent to Twitter is extremely fascinating and the best part about using it is its swiftness. Unlike other social media websites, twitter offers its users with a limited space of 140 characters to express what is on their mind. For starters, this 140 character space limit can be a horrible thing to deal with however as a user becomes more used to it, the art of tweeting becomes more captivating.
Beginners might curse Twitter for allotting the 140-character limit but from an intellectual perspective, there is an interesting logic behind the restriction of tweeting space. The word impatience is a beautiful word to describe the present digital generation. People, in today’s fast-paced life, need everything to be as quick as possible. Back in the days, people preferred the newspapers to get their daily dose of updates. As days passed, blogging took over the masses and it did not take long for blogging to shrink and transform into micro blogging, which is what Twitter is all about.
Many renowned people who are absolutely in love with Twitter claim that the 140-character count limit actually enables the person tweeting to be more creative with their posts. When users are well aware of the limit, it becomes inevitable for them to display what their post or what their opinions are within the prescribed limit. As a result, it becomes easy for readers to get straight to the point rather than to beat around the bush. Some blog posts that have catchy titles definitely pull in people’s attention however clicking on the link gets them disappointed, as these blogs are massive in size.
Twitter puts an end to that tedious task of scrolling through huge blog posts and gets things straight to the point with its good old SMS logic. However, in the recent days, Twitter has noticed a serious problem that is faced by its daily users. It has been noticed that when a person wishes to incorporate a link in their tweets or an image, the characters are reduced considerably. As a result, the limited 140 character gets narrowed down further making it difficult for users to express their one-line captions. To combat the issue, Twitter users take screenshots of the text they wish to use as captions and upload the image in order to express their thoughts and opinions.
This issue has come into consideration and Twitter has finally decided to act over it. Recently, Twitter announced the changes that are going to take place in the coming months. The announcement hinted that tweets are going to be redesigned in a manner wherein including links, media files and other attachments will not consume any character space count. Thus, users can be sure that all 140-character space shall be provided solely for the micro post created by users. Even adding names while replying or retweeting shall not be counted under character spaces. These alterations shall definitely offer regular Twitter users with more freedom to use the micro-blogging platform more effectively.
