In-Text Link Options

We all know it is better to use in-text links in some cases. The anchor text gains importance as an in-text link, and the destination should be clear. There are a few things to remember, however.

If you are using an advertising program that highlights links in your articles, be aware that the relevancy may not always be spot on. To avoid looking like an idiot, you should make your own, relevant links look different, perhaps by using a different color on the text. Then your users can easily tell which links are yours and worth following, and which are auto generated based on your content and may or may not be on topic.

Also, make sure that any links in your content, whether auto generated or put there yourself, open in a new tab or window. Tab is preferable to most users, as it allows them to toggle back and forth as needed for reference. This keeps your page open, and the visitor on your site without causing a rapid bounce rate. If youy set the target for new tab, you also cater to those users who still depend on a slow internet connection – They may be unwilling to hit the back browser button and wait for your page to open again, but if they can stay and browse while waiting for the reference link tab to open, they will probably read further on your site.

In short, make sure that you always present yourself in the best possible light, so that you not only get visitors to take what you say seriously but also convince them to stay on your site as long as possible. Linking is good, but only if it doesn’t interfere with your page views. You want the most clicked on links to go to other pages in your site.

Remember also that when someone clicks on a link, they expect to get more good information, not less, so if you find an auto generating program consistently giving you bad links, you may want to rethink the decision to include them on your website. The loss of customer interest and traffic may not make up for the small amount of revenue you might be gaining.
