Mobile Adspend Set to Triple by 2012

Friday, June 19th, 2009

According to the results of a study released by eMarketer, Over $760 million is expected to be spent worldwide for mobile search advertising in 2009 – a 20% increase from last year’s total. By 2012, the projected spend is 2.4 billion.

Mobile is the new social. It combines all the best of the friend to friend network with the versatility of the entire web, and has the possibilities most SEMs only dream of.

There are over a million iPhones in use now. The new iPhone is already sold out in pre-sales, and that’s not counting otehr net enabled phones such as BlackBerries, Palms, Androids, etc.

Makingb sure you don’t miss out on mobile was the thrust of a lot of talk at the SMX in Seattle. It was pointed out that mobile PPC is expanding at a podigious rate, and SEOs need to remember they are dealing wth a slightly different type of demographic when they target mobil searchers. This means ad copy and destination urls for mobile hagve to be highly focused.

Integrating mobile into your own SEO is something that is easy to do if you are an affiliate or a apps developer. You don’t have to have your own website fully mobile friendly as long as the destination you send your customers is. Send them straight to your apps store or affiliate, and cash in on mobile moolah.

Social networks are an automatic, so work the mobile angle in tandem with your Facebook and Twitter efforts. Want something to go viral? Mobile might be a better starting point than even Digg!

One webmaster ran a poll – is mobile bigger than social? Mobile IS social, to the nth degree – and so much more. Take advantage of it.
